General Maintenance Trades Assistant

The role


We are currently seeking a handy man all-rounder to join our Western site Maintenance team as a full time Maintenance Trades Assistant.  Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this position will assist our qualified tradesmen with general maintenance, repairs, cleaning and support throughout our 5 Western site venues; Mounties, Mekong, Triglav, Club Italia & Mounties Bowling Club.


Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Assist our trades qualified staff with minor electrical/ carpentry work
  • Perform repair and maintenance tasks on all hydraulic services, walls, floors, ceilings and other surfaces as required
  • Performs patch and paint work as required 
  • Assist with minor maintenance works including; replacement of tactile treads, changing of ceiling tiles, silicone of kitchen areas
  • Test & tag of equipment (desirable, not essential)
  • Assist with set up and pack down of functions and events
  • General handy man duties, such as disposing of waste, pool maintenance etc.  

Skills and experience 

  • Experience with welding mig & stick
  • Experience with cleaning and use of sealants
  • Ability to safely use small electrical tools and high-pressure equipment
  • Ability to complete the physical requirements of the role, including heavy lifting (in
    accordance with safety provisions)
  • Construction Induction Card (WH&S White Card)
  • Current First Aid
  • High Risk Licence (over 11m)
  • Elevated Work Platform (under 11m)
  • Working Safely at Heights certification
  • Breathing Apparatus - desirable 
  • ChemCert - desirable
  • Confined Space - desirable 
  • A driver’s license & ability to drive a manual vehicle
  • Sound computer skills in word, excel and software programs
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including days, nights and weekends
