SUMMARY OF ROLE We are seeking a talented and strategic Legal Counsel on a full-time basis to join our recently-established Legal and Risk team at Mounties, located in Mount Pritchard. Reporting directly to the Head of Legal, the Legal Counsel will provide essential support to the organisation’s legal framework. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer with strong background in general commercial and contracts law to broaden their experience, drive their in-house career and contribute to a growing and diverse organisation. This role requires two days per week onsite attendance at our offices at Mount Pritchard, with remote work on remaining days. KEY DUTIES - Assist in providing strategic legal advice on commercial contracts and projects.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of commercial agreements.
- Organisational policy review and development.
- Assist in investigations and disputes handling, ensuring alignment with business strategy.
- Coordinate and maintain strong relationships with key business teams on legal matters.
- Proactively identify and analyse legal trends, risks, and opportunities to improve risk management and internal governance.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of efficient legal processes and systems.
- Support the legal team in staying updated with changes in laws and regulatory landscapes.
- Manage and upkeep legal correspondence, documents, record-keeping and registrations in alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct legal research and compile reports to support organisation needs.
- Develop and deliver legal and compliance training to internal teams.
ABOUT YOU To be successful in this role, you will bring demonstrated strong drafting, negotiation and analytical skills. You will be a highly motivated and proactive professional supporting legal matters ideally in a regulated environment and have a proactive approach to identifying and managing risks. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - Qualified lawyer with 2-4 years Post-Qualification Experience (PQE).
- Strong background in general commercial and contracts law.
- Excellent contract drafting, negotiation, and interpretation skills.
- Solid understanding of commercial law principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
